Bright’s Christian journey with the United Church has helped him grow strong in faith and learn to love Christ and others. He believes that God calls him to share the gospel with others and to help them grow in their faith as well. For that reason, he finds Knox a great place to be, where anyone can come and feel supported and nurtured in the community, and at the same time be equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities of everyday living. Born in Korea, Bright moved to Vancouver in 2002. He began his Master of Divinity degree at the Vancouver School of Theology and later transferred to Emmanuel College, University of Toronto, where he completed the degree in 2007. He continued to study for his Master of Theology degree, yet God called him to stay in ministry. His zeal for the preaching of God’s Word has led to work at Knox United Church. Having been involved in two congregations previously, Bright believes that his affection for social and cultural sensitivity has given him the opportunity to now speak for God’s people here at Knox. Bright loves to spend time with Kim, his wife of more than seventeen years, and their three children. He’s a great fan of the Toronto Raptors and remembers well when they won the NBA championship in 2019, and he’s sure that they will do it again! His prayer is that with God’s help we all grow strong in faith!

Linda especially enjoyed the Thursday Night Worship, where many participated in skits, dramas, informative talks, lots of singing and also the lively group of musicians who played very loudly with enormous enthusiasm. Following her time at Knox, Linda returned to Emmanuel College and was Ordained in June 2002. Many people from Knox attended the Ordination ceremony and she was grateful for their support. Following her Ordination, Linda served at Wesley Mimico United Church in Etobicoke and, in February 2011, transferred to Cosburn United Church in East York. Retirement began in May 2015. Linda relates the following story about how she came to return to Knox as Minister of Visitation, “It was a lovely retirement until one particular day. On that day, as I was leaving the dog park with Charlie, my new puppy, a woman started a conversation with me. She told me all about her dog that had recently passed away. After a heartfelt conversation, all I could think about was that I really missed talking to people and being involved in their lives. The feeling was quite intense and I couldn’t shake it off. When I got home there was a telephone message from Knox, saying that a position was available at the church for visiting with people and would I like to apply. The timing of this phone call was impossible to ignore.” In December 2021, Linda retired. She is delighted to remain at Knox as a Voluntary Associate Minister. Linda lives in East York with her partner David and has two adult daughters, Michelle and Christine. She is a qualified Supervisor for Student Ministers and, in her spare time, plays the clarinet in several bands and orchestras.

Ross began violin studies at the age of three, adding piano in the following year. After completing his A.R.C.T. diploma in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music here in Toronto, Ross entered the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1993. Ross’ special interest in performing chamber music led him to take the unusual step of developing his skills on several orchestral instruments and voice, in order to understand the performance perspectives of his fellow musicians. Since returning to Canada, Ross has collaborated countless times with musical organizations throughout Ontario. He was Director of Music at Mountainview United Church in St. Catharines for fifteen years and taught string, brass, and woodwind instrumental music for the Niagara District School Board. In theatre, Ross has been Musical Director for the Carousel Players, Oh Canada, Eh? and Garden City Productions. He appeared on stage as the lead in productions of Three Penny Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Man of La Mancha. For many years, Ross was involved with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir as Assistant Conductor, Assistant Accompanist and a tenor in the Elora Festival Singers. He currently runs a private studio of twenty students in addition to teaching over 200 violinists in Regent Park, Whitby and in the Jane & Finch corridor through The Hammer Band and conducts choirs at Temple Sinai synagogue in Toronto. Not only is Ross an accomplished musician, he is also an accomplished athlete. He has run 25 marathons or ultra-marathons, including four Boston Marathons, several 50 km races, and races of 50 miles and 100 km. He and his wife, Carolyn Campbell, are enjoying the incredible experience of raising two beautiful children, Ethan and Ella, both already accomplished athletes.

Jayne notes that her favourite Bible story is the birth of Jesus; her favourite Bible character is Mary, and her favourite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, the lesson of which is to “trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure everything out on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do.” Jayne says that she loves being the Christian Education Coordinator at Knox because she loves being part of the amazing Knox Church family where she serves alongside many faithful and gifted individuals who inspire her. She loves watching the children as they begin to learn about the Bible, worship, and praying as they start their faith journey; she loves the connection that the youth make with each other and especially with God. She finds their energy and inquisitiveness “so much fun”. As Jayne puts it, her time with Knox is one of the highlights of her week. Jayne is married to “a super patient man” whom she says makes her laugh every day and she is blessed to have a step-son with exceptional needs. Their home “is overflowing with joy with two very large and loveable Newfoundland dogs, plus five unique and equally lovable hairless Sphynx cats.”
